Fathers play in an important role in their children’s lives, their
upbringing, realizing their dreams and helping them to start again when
they fall down or get disappointed. But, fathers can also destroy, by
word and deed, by giving or withholding, by their presence or absence.
This film looks at reconciliation between fathers and sons and the
principle of forgiveness. It also looks at identity and the legacy that
fathers leave as well the importance of family.

“Father” is a telemovie (60 minutes) conceived by well known
SouthAfrican actor Zane Meas and written in conjunction with Valente
Bosch, who also directed.

It deals with the issue of influence and fatherlessness, forgiveness,
loss and reconciliation. It’s basic premise is that we are all entitled
to “a second chance”. The story revolves around a single father who has
to fight to keep his two very different sons from making the wrong
decisions in life – before it’s too late. In this process he himself
learns a few lessons along the way.
