The Zane Meas Biography
Zane Meas has been an actor for the past 38 years and has appeared in numerous stage, television, film and radio productions. He is best known as the rugby hero Mackie from the television series “The Game”, the cruel and vindictive teacher Mr. Botha in “Molo Fish” and as Jack van Onselen in the TV soap ‘Isidingo’. Zane has written a best-selling book (9080 copies); ‘Daddy, Come Home’ published by Struik Christian Media which has been in major bookstores since the first week of May 2010. He was a featured writer for ‘Lig’ magazine for 4years and wrote aver 50 articles on Fatherhood and family matters.
Starting his own production company, African Gateway Communications in 1997, Zane co-produced and directed a corporate video for the GEMPEX Corporation entitled ‘Let There Be Light’. He has also produced a number of corporate and industrial theatre and video productions for the Gauteng Department of Housing and for Standard Bank.
Zane completed his Multi-camera Director training with Endemol Productions while performing in ‘Joburg Blues’ in 1997/8. Zane’s directing credits include co-directing inserts for The TV Production Company on the ‘Nation-Builders’ series for SABC 3 (1997). He directed and co-produced a documentary for UNISA on the future of serious music in South Africa with the 1996 International Piano Competition as a backdrop. He has been married to Megan for 30 years and they have five kids, two dogs and a mortgage.
Zane’s Featured Shows
Zane was seen as ‘Neville Meintjies in the popular daily drama ‘7de laan’ on SABC2 and in “Sober Companion” on SABC3 as well as Wesley Thompson on “Scandal.”.
He was seen as Dr Samuels on ‘Binnelanders’ and more recently in the hit NETFLIX series ‘Ludick’ as Brigadier Davies – a role for which he has received a SAFTA nomination.
He has directed a number of episodes of the hit TV show “On the Couch” in 2008 – 2009.
He directed a short format film through Quizzical Pictures for the Heartlines Father’s Matter campaign. This film was showcased on SABC 2 during 2022 and rebroadcast in 2023. It is currently on the SABC Plus platform.
Zane co-wrote and directed a full feature film for the eVOD channel in 2023/23 – ‘Klip Anker Baai’. This film was subsequently licensed to Amazon Prime online where it can currently be seen.
